Spring 2010 Newsline cover

We decided that despite it being somewhat un-spring-like to give the magazine a bit of a revamp anyway.

It is hoped that from the outset you find it an interesting and stimulating read and may even spur you to either write something yourself or at least suggest something you think we ought to cover.

In this new-look edition we cover topics as diverse as:

  • The portrayal of people with spinal cord injury ITV and film
  • The exploits of the UK’s only paraplegic motor cycle racer, Kerr Douglas
  • Holiday ideas in Hong Kong and Lanzarote
  • Scott Breslin’s story of getting back to study following a high-level SCI

We do hope that you enjoy your Newsline.

As always, we are always looking for input for the magazine. If you have any suggestions for articles or you want to write an article yourself, please contact andy@sisonline.org

Buying or selling second-hand goods

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Have you ever thought about buying second hand mobility items or do you have mobility products that you no longer need or use?

If so, why not sell them?

Did you know that there are websites where you can buy or sell second hand items?

Last year I had a handcycle that I was not using due to the fact that I had to transfer onto another chair. I decided to advertise it for sale and managed to sell it within a couple of days.

I have recently just purchased another handcycle from a different website and again it was an ideal way of purchasing an item cheaper than when it was new.

There are a number of websites offering this facility so why not have a look and see if there is anything you are looking for in particular or sell goods that you are no longer using. There are numerous items for sale on each of these websites from the smallest of aids right through to wheelchair accessible vehicles.

The websites below have dedicated sections for selling mobility products:

Disabled Gear

Spinal Injuries Association

Apparelyzed

Have you used any of these websites before?

Do you know of any other websites offering the same facility?

If so leave a comment letting us know and we can add it to our links section.
