They plan to cycle from Glasgow to Belfast to Dublin and back again in 7 days! Not only that, along the way they plan to visit the national spinal unit in each city to talk to patients and staff about their challenge.

Running the 10K in memory of Craig Macdonald

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Craig Macdonald suffered a serious spinal injury in a car accident in June 2007. He spent 11 months in the QENSIU in Glasgow and after being discharged went on to study Psychology. Sadly, Craig passed away on 28th December 2009 at the age of 20.

On Sunday 9th May Craig’s mum, Jackie and 8 others joined over 13000 women taking part in the 2010 Ignis Asset Management Women’s 10K. They were raising funds for SIS in memory of Craig, who had hoped one day to become an SIS volunteer himself.

To read more about Craig, as well as Jackie and the team’s effort, please go to their just giving page here.

All at SIS are very grateful to all who took part in what looked like an amazing, and very emotional day. We are very proud that the work we do can have such a positive impact on someone.

Also, Jackie’s sister’s partner, Johnny McLaughlin and his friend, Paul Holmes took part in the Berlin Half Marathon on 28th March, 2010 on behalf of SIS. We’ll post more details about them once we get some images.  In the meantime our thanks go to them for a truly amazing effort.

If you would like to get sponsored on behalf of SIS then why not try creating a just giving page by clicking here. If you require event T-Shirts, vests or sponsor forms just contact the office on 0141 427 7686 or email: info@sisonline.org

Lombard Ben Nevis Fundraiser

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

A team of ten from Lombard at West Scotland Business centre decided to raise money for Spinal Injuries Scotland by taking on the challenge of climbing to the summit of Ben Nevis.

None of the team had embarked on anything like this before so it really was a challenge for them.

Some of the team did training by tackling Munro’s before heading up Ben Nevis whilst other chose not to do so much preparation but they all managed to get to the summit, raising an incredible amount for SIS, but not only raising cash they did a great deal to raise awareness of the charity too.

Here are a couple of pictures from the day with the full story to follow soon.
