Awareness

We offer an education service which is utilised by a diverse group of people, not just the patients who have been affected by spinal cord injury but their clinicians and other healthcare professionals, relatives, carers and students. We strive to make as many people as possible aware of not only the injury but of the work SIS does to assist in the rehabilitation process.
Spinal Injuries Scotland has the capacity to advise local council bodies on matters such as accessible housing issues as well as other stand-alone bodies like carers groups and disability forums. These tasks are undertaken not only by members of staff, but Directors and volunteers.
Scottish Disability Equality Forum (SDEF)
SDEF is a multi disability umbrella body which campaigns for greater equality for people with disabilities in Scotland. SIS are members of the organisation and their campaigns include improvements in wheelchair provision and service, access to hotels and so on. They have numerous local committees around the country who campaign on a more local basis.
